St.Paul’s International School, Kalamassery conducted a seminar on Kathakali Mudras on 15th November, 2018 for the students of Class VIII. It was arranged by the Tripunithra Kalamandalam Vanitha Sangam.
The Class was conducted by the Kathakali Artist, Geetha Varma. She explained the different mudras of Kathakali. It was performed with the help of the Kathakali Percursion Instruments which included Metallophones and Membranophones. Maddalam, Chenda and Ellatalam were performed by Atul Kalamandalam, Gopi Krishna and Sreejith respectively.
A powerpoint presentation was also shown to make the class more interesting. The Principal of the School, Mr. K.V. George was also present in the seminar. The class also helped the students to understand more about this ritual art form of Kerala. Maria Jyothi of Class VIII-A welcomed the gathering and Fathima Zenha of Class VIII-B proposed the Vote of Thanks.
