An anti - drug Campaign of the Catholic Church under the auspices of Bishop Remigius Inchananiyil, the State Chairman KCBC (Kerala Catholic Bishops Conference) was held at St. Paul’s International School on 24th November 2017. The campaign covered the prominent schools run by the Catholic Church and gave awareness to the students about the demerits of alcoholism and drug abuse which is prevailing in the society.

The initiative was guided by Rev. Fr. Sebastian Vattaparambil and Rev. Fr. Jacob Vellamarathungal, State General Secretary for the campaign. Mr. Prasad Kuruvilla, the State president of the campaign, instilled the pledge for the students and gave awareness to the students about the adverse effects of alcoholism and drug abuse. “Kerala ranks the second place in substance abuse and it is not just men, even women and children are also addicts of alcoholism and drug abuse,” remarked Adv. Charlie Paul. He also insisted that the considerable rise in the mental instability of children is due to the consumption of alcohol by their ancestors.

Rev Dr. Douglas Pinheiro, the Director of the school welcomed the gathering and Rev.Fr. Sebastian Vattaparambil delivered the vote of thanks. The coordinators of the campaign presented a street play raising slogans against alcoholism. Rev. Msgr. Jose Padiyaramparambil, 5th Forane Vicar Archdiocese of Verapoly, the Principal of the School, Dr. Sheela Seth and the Manager, Mr. C C Raphael and the Chairperson of Municipality (Kalamassery), Mrs. Jessy Peter were present during the occasion.
