The 15th Annual Sports Meet of St. Paul’s International School was held on November 3, 2017 at the school ground. Genva Morris, Chief Petty Officer was the guest of the day. The day’s proceedings began with the invocation. Rev. Dr Douglas Pinheiro, the Director of the school welcomed the gathering followed by the march past of the four houses- Alps, Atlas, Andes and Himalaya. The chief guest of the day hoisted the school flag and addressed the gathering while declaring the sports meet as open. He said, “Winning or losing is not important but participation is that which matters”.
The Physical Education Instructor, Ms. Sreejith lit the Olympic torch and handed it over to Ms. Alfiya Riyaz, athlete and then passed it over to the Sports Champions of the academic year 2016 -2017 ( Anusha S Shibu, Adithya Tarun, Mohammed Nihal, Justin George, Lena Wilson, Hajira K M, Sohail Sanjay Moideen ) and finally to the Director who lit the Olympic Flame. Mast. Sohail Sanjay Moideen, the Games Captain of the school administered the oath. Dr. Sheela Seth, Principal felicitated the gathering.
Many scintillating displays such as Colourful Flower Drill of Classes I & II, Aerobics Ribbon Drill of Classes II & III , Pole Drill of Classes IV & V and Yoga Display of Classes IV & VII set a tone for the rest of the events. The Chief Guest honoured the winners of various events by presenting medals and certificates. Events for students, staff and parents were organized which evoked enthusiasm among the participants.
Dr. Sheela Seth, Principal lowered the flag and declared the Sports Meet as closed. Ms. Mariyam Anna Varghese, School Captain delivered the vote of Thanks. Ms. Alisa Mariam Chandyson and Mast. Aaromal S Ram compered for the function. The school ground was filled with cheer and enjoyment making it a memorable day for the contestants and spectators with lively participation and effective organization.
