The waste disposed at the public premises in H M T Moolepadam Road (Kalamassery Muncipality Ward 6) was noticed by the SEED Club members of St. Paul’s International School and was brought into the attention of the concerned authorities by the school captain, Ms. Mariam Anna Varghese. In auspices with Kalamassery Municipality, Ward 6 Residents Association and Police, the students of SPIS got rid of the waste materials in that area.
The waste disposed at the public premises in H M T Moolepadam Road (Kalamassery Muncipality Ward 6) was noticed by the SEED Club members of St. Paul’s International School and was brought into the attention of the concerned authorities by the school captain, Ms. Mariam Anna Varghese. In auspices with Kalamassery Municipality, Ward 6 Residents Association and Police, the students of SPIS got rid of the waste materials in that area. The program was inaugurated by the Chairperson of Muncipality, Mrs. Jessy Peter. The Councilor of Ward 6, Mr. Pareeth presided on the occasion.
The President of Moolepadam residents association, Mr. K K Mayin kutty, Secretary Mr. Rajan and Health Inspector, Mr. Samson Kalathiveetil felicitated on the occasion and obliged their full support for this campaign. The Director of the school, Rev. Dr. Douglas Pinheiro, Manager, Mr. C C Raphael, Mrs. Maya and Mrs. Smitha, the SEED coordinators of SPIS chaperoned the students for this initiative.
“The ignorant people as well as the knowledgeable have contributed in polluting a place which once used to be a spot for relaxation”, opined Mrs. Jessy Peter. She hopes that the cleaning campaign to which SPIS ignited fire will open the eyes of those people who are oblivious to these facts. Mr. Pareeth affirmed that Kalamassery Muncipality would be a stanchion of support for the further development of this endeavor. The Health Inspector acknowledged the commendable efforts of the students of SPIS who took initiative for this cleaning process.
. “The accumulation of waste materials has resulted in polluting the well water in the premises and has affected the health of the inhabitants staying nearby”, expressed Mr. Samson Kalathiveetil. “SPIS would be providing support in bringing into light the issues of social concern as it not only avows the protection of the environment but also develops a learning strategy comprehending the changes in it”, Rev Dr. Douglas Pinheiro opined. The school Captain, Ms. Mariam Anna Varghese delivered the vote of thanks for the occasion.
