SEED is the abbreviation for Students Empowerment for Environmental Development. The club was inaugurated on 8th July 2016 in the school auditorium. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mrs. Jayalakshmi R, the SEED Coordinator of SPIS. Ms. Megha Sunil of class XI read out the report of the SEED Club activities of the academic year 2015-16. The guest of honour, Mr. K J Martin Lowel Assistant Conservator of Forests, Kochi, urged the student community to develop a friendly attitude towards nature. He congratulated the management for taking environment issues seriously. Dr. Sheela Seth, the School Principal administered the oath to students, making them to vow to save the Earth from environmental degradation. Rev. Dr. Douglas Pinheiro , Director, urged the student community to keep themselves away from junk food. He pointed out that conservation of the nature is the responsibility of all, if we mean to live on earth. Mr. Rony K J and Miss. Merita, Executives of SEED, from Mathrubhumi felicitated the gathering.
Students of class X Mahadevan Anil Kumar, Arjith Alex Martin, Gauri Shankar, Sarath S. Devika J together with their colleagues presented a Skit on Importance of Conservation of Forests. Tiny Tots of KG, Elsa Ponnu, Lanelle Ann, Katherine Rose, Radhika Hari, together with 6 other students sang a group song conveying the message on benefits of trees. Fancy dress presentations on endangered species like Sundew, Mangrove, Dragon, Sysigium Travancoricom were presented by Juin Jestin (V B), Vaishaki J (VI B), Ivin Abraham (V B), Shoaoib Sanjay ( V B) . Presentations on endangered animals like Tiger, Nilgiri Thar, Asiatic Lion, Brown Bear were presented Vaidehi Varma (VI B), Athul S (VI A), Paul Renju (VII B), Abhinav Anil (V B) . Prelude to this meeting, a poster competition was conducted in the school on different issues related to the environment and certificates were awarded to the winners by the Chief Guest. As a symbolic gesture of their love of the nature, the chief guest and the school captain planted a sapling. The renewed medicinal garden of the school was inaugurated by the Chief Guest. Mast. Mahadevan Anilkumar of std X delivered the vote of thanks.
