“Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting”.
St. Paul’s International School, Kalamassery celebrated Christmas and New Year on 22nd December, 2018 in the school auditorium with great fervour and enthusiasm. The celebration began with an invocation by the SPIS choir followed by a reading from the Holy Bible about the Nativity by Mrs. Rose Francis. The Welcome Speech was delivered by Master B. S. Shabarish, the House Captain of Andes House.
The Director of the School, Rev. Dr. Douglas Pinheiro delivered the Christmas message. He explained the meaning of Christmas and wished all the Paulians ‘A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year’. The Director reminded the students about the importance of giving a quality time to the family by building the relations while Paulians are in Christmas holidays. It was followed by the ceremony of the lightning of Christmas Lamp by the Chief Guest, Miss Mekhana Shajan who is the SPIS alumni and Femina Miss India Kerala 2018.
Miss. Mekhana Shajan underlined the importance of different chances that the Paulians may get while they are in SPIS. Chances may be small or big but it will have a lasting influence in each ones life. The worth of each chances will be understood properly very late she said. She was proud to say how much SPIS helped her to have a good outlook about the life. Miss. Mekhana Shajan was proud to say the experience of getting small but different chances while she was the student in SPIS. Christmas carols presented by the SPIS Voice was exceptional and enjoyed by everyone.
In his Christmas message, Mr. K. V. George, the Principal of the School mentioned that the Christmas is a time of excitement, love and peace. He reminded all the Paulians that ‘Obedience’ is the best gift a child can give to their parents. The students enthralled the audience by enacting the Nativity Scene. In today’s world where the Christmas is more commercialized, Paulians communicated the real meaning of Christmas point by point which was really informative and awe-struck.
Creative but heart-touching dances by the Paulians topped the festive atmosphere. Talented tiny tots of Kindergarten grabbed the attention of everyone through their mesmerizing smile, songs and dance performances.
Miss Ruby Paul felicitated on the occasion. Prizes were also awarded for the House Competitions. The first prize was given to Atlas House, the second to Alps House and the third to Andes House respectively.
The entire school was festooned with colourful streamers and balloons. The programme came to an end with the National Anthem by the School choir.
